Iken’s “Design a Workstation of the Future” Awards Night



Iken announced the four winners to the first annual “Design a Workstation of the Future” design competition in its new renovated showroom in Sydney on Thursday 28th September. The night featured the exhibition of the winning entries, entertainment with live jazz tunes and a mime artist to celebrate the new and sophisticated space.  The competition attracted designers and students to develop a concept of a workstation in 2011 influenced by the technologies and innovations of today.

The honoured judges include Brandon Gien (Australian Design Awards), Stephen Ballesty (Facility Management of Australia) and Ric Butt (Strine Design) who were astounded by the innovation of the entries before announcing the winners to the industry-packed crowd.

Stephen Ballesty, Chairman of FMA Australia, as one of the judges said he was delighted with the outcome stating that “The level of participation, quality of presentation and range of innovations in workspace design was impressive.  As an industry we can be proud of the local designers and students who embraced this inaugural initiative by iken and made the judges task so difficult.  I especially congratulate those who won awards”.

Iken worked closely with sponsors Steinhoff Furniture, Okamura Corporation, Inside Magazine and its event sponsors blueandbrown, Witchmount Estate, Mangajo and Baron’s Brewery to deliver this successful initiative in the Australian design community.
