Eco Design
The impact on our environment is becoming a key issue in the design and management of offices in Australia. Iken has had a long history of action to minimising the ecological impact of fit outs. Iken focuses on a range of ecological initiatives through our “priority Green” objective confirming our commitment to investigation and action. This includes priorities for the short and long term.
Iken is focused on product designs that reduce material. Iken has been committed to environmental outcomes for many years and has pursued this specifically through its leadership in the reuse of product. The option to recycle is an important design priority and is a continued focus of Iken’s selection of materials and development of new products.
Reuse
Iken has a long and proud history of reusing product over many years and on many projects. By way of example, Iken was the supplier for the Sydney Olympics (1998) and the Melbourne Commonwealth Games (2003). Both of these projects were supplied on the basis of supply and take back. A recent TV advertisement for Canon uses the old SOCOG workstations as the backdrop.
Project Finance
Iken’s commitment to providing creative solutions extends to services such as Project Finance. This not only assists clients by providing additional options for funding projects but also assists in the reuse and take back.
Iken has worked closely with “G3-Sustainable Ideas” from the Louis Layborne Smith School of Architecture & Design, at the university of South Australia in the development of its new system programme Aero. Specifically, in the verification and selection of suitable materials to significantly.
Reduce the environmental impact of the Aero programme.
Iken is committed to a range of environment imperatives that will impact both in the short and long term. Included in this is ongoing product development of product development of products and ranges that continue to set new benchmarks in ecodesign.
